Cyber Defense Solutions, LLC (CDS) was founded as a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business in 2008. Since its humble beginnings located at the Mason Enterprise Center start-up incubator in Fairfax, Virginia, CDS has grown exponentially and is now headquartered in Lorton, Virginia. The company started out as a training resource in the cyber security space but has since branched out into providing subject matter experts to the federal government to defend the nations cyber infrastructure. CDS has gained a reputation within, and beyond, the capital beltway for providing quality service and loyalty to our customers and partners.
CDS’s core competencies include Information Assurance, Computer Network Defense and IT Training. Through the execution of our Cyber Security programs, CDS has also developed competency in System and Network Administration and Engineering, Software Programming and Development, as well as Cloud Administration and Engineering utilizing Amazon Web Services. As an example of CDS’s success, CDS was selected as a recipient of the Northrop Grumman Supplier Recognition Program / Supplier Excellence Award – 2015. in 2018 CDS was recognized by Inc5000 for the third year in a row as the Nation's fastest growing companies.
Rodney DeCarteret - CEO & President
Rodney DeCarteret is a technology executive with more than 20 years of federal government experience and an extensive background of IT service delivery across the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and Intelligence Community. Rodney founded CDS as a start-up in 2008 and leads its growth as a trusted government services provider with a values-based business philosophy and focus on service excellence.
Rodney is a veteran of the U.S. Army and Army Reserves and earned a Bronze Star for his service during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. Prior to starting CDS, he held technical leadership positions in cybersecurity analysis and engineering as a government contractor for the Joint Task Force for Global Network Operations, U.S. Congress, and Cyber Intel Center 1st Information Operations Command.
Rodney earned a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in IT Management from Western Governors University, a Bachelor of Science in Business Information Systems from Bellevue University, and an Associate of Applied Science in Electronic Switching Systems from Central Texas Community College. He holds several security certifications, including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), and GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM).
Herbert "Lamont" Moody - Senior Director, Client Programs
Lamont Moody is the Senior Director of Client Programs and oversees the service delivery and management of CDS’s portfolio of federal programs. In this role, Lamont directs all aspects of program strategy and execution and provides executive support to federal customers. He also serves as Program Manager for the company’s largest program supporting the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.
Prior to joining CDS, Lamont spent over 10 years supporting the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community with a specific focus on cybersecurity. His extensive experience includes progressive leadership roles on key cyber programs at the Defense Intelligence Agency and Defense Advanced Resource Projects Agency and positions in cyber intelligence analysis and network defense for the Marine Corps Network Operations and Security Center and Joint Task Force for Global Network Operations.
Lamont is a veteran of both the U.S Marine Corps and the U.S. Army. He received a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Security from American Military University and holds graduate certificates in Executive Leadership and High-Performance Leadership from Cornell University.
Guy Hinkler - Senior Director, Mergers and Acquisitions
Guy Hinkler serves as Senior Director of Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions for CDS. In this position, Guy focuses on growth strategy initiatives and oversees all aspects of the target acquisition lifecycle, including identification, due diligence, and integration.
Along with his decades of experience supporting federal customers—including the Department of Health and Human Services, General Services Administration, and Library of Congress—Guy brings deep expertise to CDS as founder of V2 Systems IT Professionals, a managed IT and security services company. He earned Microsoft Gold Partner and Cisco SMB Partner certifications for V2 and drove its rapid growth and success by acquiring six companies within a three-year period. Guy later sold his shares to other V2 employee-owners and transitioned to consulting on growth strategy and succession planning.
Guy serves on the Advisory Board of the Mason Enterprise Center, is a Founding Member of the American Small Business Coalition, and served on both the Member Council of the Tower Club Tysons Corner and Deltek Customer Advisory Panel. He is CompTIA A+ certified and holds a degree in Computer Technology from Control Data Institute.
Chrissi DeCarteret - Director, Human Resources
Chrissi DeCarteret directs and oversees all aspects of CDS’s financial and human resources efforts. Chrissi has worked in progressive roles for CDS since its inception and has a wealth of experience in company operations, from vendor management and corporate billing to risk analysis and mitigation. As Director of Human Resources & Finance, her expertise is focused in the areas of financial reporting and accounting, legal and policy compliance, and HR personnel management.
Prior to CDS, Chrissi worked in underwriting for the commercial insurance industry and earned the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU) designations. She earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences in Administrative/Management Studies from Excelsior College and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in finance and accounting.
Denise Parco - Director, Strategic Communications
Denise Parco is the Director of Strategic Communications. In this role, Denise implements strategic communications to advance CDS’s business objectives, with specific focus on business development, corporate initiatives, and employee engagement.
Denise spent 15 years as a government contractor helping customers including the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Army Rapid Equipping Force, and National Aeronautics and Space Administration achieve their complex communications goals. She has over eight years of experience supporting federal cybersecurity programs and most recently led strategic communications activities for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s Cybersecurity Division. In this role, Denise consulted on integrated messaging strategies, cybersecurity communications campaigns, and stakeholder awareness and engagement initiatives.
Denise previously worked for Booz Allen Hamilton, where she managed a technology-focused internal communications program and developed a multi-channel communications strategy to support technology innovation at NASA. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Strayer University.
