Innovative Management and Technology Services, LLC (IMTS) is pleased to announce that it has been certified by the SBA as a service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVOSBs).
Why this is important. Every year, the federal government awards a portion of contracting dollars specifically to businesses owned by veterans. The federal government aims to award at least 3% of all federal contracting dollars to SDVOSBs each year. Certification with SBA allows service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVOSBs) to compete for federal sole-source and set-aside contracts across the federal government. Certified veteran-owned small businesses (VOSBs) have additional opportunities to pursue sole-source and set-aside contracts at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) under the VA’s Vets First program. Under FAR 19.1406, additional sole source options are available to SDVOSBs up to $4 million in value for a requirement within any NAICS code.
Up until recently, self-certified SDVOSBs could be awarded SDVOSB set-asides from all federal government agencies, with the exception of the VA, which required certifications through their program. The NDAA 2021 changed those rules and required all SDVOSBs to be certified through the SBA in order to be awarded SDVOSB set-aside contracts. The NDAA 2021 granted a one-year grace period for self-certified SDVOSBs until January 1, 2024. During the grace period, self-certified businesses had one year to file an application for SDVOSB certification and could continue to rely on their self-certification to compete for non-VA SDVOSB set-aside contracts.
